The exhibition "Canottieri Lecco 130 years of history and culture of sports on our lake" will open on September 6th at 6 pm at Palazzo delle Paure, organized by the Canottieri Lecco Society in collaboration with the FAI delegation of Lecco, the Municipality of Lecco, and the Urban Museum System of Lecco.

The exhibition celebrates the 130 years since the foundation of the Canottieri Lecco Society and the 50 years since the establishment of the FAI - Italian Environment Fund, curated by the FAI delegation of Lecco.

United by the same intentions as they are committed to the enhancement of cultural heritage: the Canottieri Society has been the guardian of the nautical traditions of the history of our lake for years, while the FAI, in general, aims to enhance and preserve assets of artistic, historical, and environmental value.

On this occasion, the 130 years of the Canottieri Society of Lecco will be retraced: from its inception, to its establishment, to the design drawings, to the first sporting events organized in Lecco, to the expansion of the building to its current dimensions.

Inevitably, what happened at Canottieri over the years became intertwined with the life of the city and its citizens, especially the young people who approached sports.

There are many testimonies of the important sports activities that have taken place since the early 1900s at Canottieri and on our lake, thanks also to the will and patronage of illustrious families from Lecco, including the Badoni and Cima families.

An activity that has continued for over a hundred years, meritorious both in terms of promotion and competition, and has helped spread and honor sports in our city. It is precisely for this commitment that Canottieri has received the Gold Star for Sporting Merit from CONI.

In the two rooms on the ground floor of Palazzo delle Paure, archival material will be exhibited: documents, manuscripts, trophies, flags, equipment, photographs, and drawings.

Of particular interest, and for which information will be provided, are the structure and architectural elements that characterize the Canottieri building, which have been studied by the Politecnico di Milano - Lecco Territorial Campus.
