The photographic exhibition entitled The Faces of Care will open at Palazzo delle Paure on Tuesday, June 17th at 6 pm.
The exhibition, set up until July 6, 2025 and promoted by ASST Lecco in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco and Si.M.U.L. - Urban Museum System of Lecco, tells through the images taken by Marco Di Prinzio, the work of healthcare workers engaged during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has deeply marked our era, leaving an indelible mark in collective memory. Also in the city of Lecco, as in the rest of the world, the virus has disrupted daily life, bringing pain and fear.
On display in the ground floor rooms of Palazzo delle Paure, over forty black and white shots document the care activities inside the "Alessandro Manzoni" Hospital in Lecco: images with a strong emotional impact, capable of narrating through faces and gestures, the commitment and effort made by healthcare workers.
Doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, and all the staff of the hospitals in Lecco found themselves facing an unprecedented health crisis. Their work was not only professional, but deeply human. Many went above and beyond: a caress to an elderly person, a video call between a patient and their loved ones, a kind word even when fatigue was unbearable. These gestures, silent but powerful, represented the true strength of a community that never gave up.
The initiative is part of the events planned for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the "Alessandro Manzoni" Hospital in Lecco.
