Fabbrica del Vapore and Scalpendi present Milano Rising City: the first episodic exhibition dedicated to celebrating the spirit and vitality of the city of Milan. From July 14, 2025, to January 18, 2026, a unique journey that pays tribute to the metropolis that, over the decades, has welcomed brilliant minds and diverse social realities, weaving connections that have shaped an internationally inspired design vision. 

The exhibition consists of seven episodes/exhibitions, each lasting 21 days, that together tell this extraordinary collective story. Through the account of the contribution of seven emblematic figures and movements from the 1940s to today, "Milano Rising City" reveals how the city has built and developed itself not only on an intellectual and artistic level, but also on entrepreneurial and cultural fronts. From Elio Vittorini to Giovanni Testori and Albe Steiner, from the militant communication laboratory to Milan Eighties, to the most recent experiences of Paolo Rosa and Luisa Spinatelli, each episode is a fundamental piece of this mosaic.

The project, conceived by Scalpendi, is based on a network of high-profile collaborations with expert curators and prestigious public and private institutions such as APICE (Archives of the Word, Image, and Editorial Communication) at the University of Milan, the Actor's Museum Library of Genoa, Gramsci Foundation of Rome, Testori House of Novate, Dams and the Actor and Stardom Research Center of Turin, Origoni Steiner Studio Archive of Milan, Giancolombo Archive of Milan, Mondadori Portfolio Photographic Archive, Pontremoli Library of Milan, Studiolo Fine Art of Milan, Archives of Tullio Brunone, Giovanni Columbu, Ettore Pasculli, Paolo Rosa, and Luisa Spinatelli. 

This network has allowed the construction of a rigorous and in-depth scientific path, developed with great care for each individual episode of the exhibition. The multidisciplinary approach and synergistic collaboration among the involved entities ensure a solid methodological approach that combines academic rigor and the ability to narrate the event's theme in an engaging and innovative way.
