With the aim of promoting emerging talents and encouraging new opportunities for cultural and professional growth, Il Cassero per la scultura italiana dell’Ottocento e del Novecento – Museo Civico di Montevarchi hosts the solo exhibition of Andrea Salvatori (Faenza, 1975). A highly cultured master, knowledgeable about techniques and styles of tradition, Salvatori has managed to give full dignity to ceramic sculpture by bringing it into the main art circuits. Fascinated by the ready-made, he plays with found objects - from kitsch figurines found in flea markets to design pieces - modifying them or juxtaposing them with new subjects to create original, surprising, and ironic works.

His refined ceramics tell small and curious stories between dream and reality: the perseverance of a turtle in carrying a huge rock, an elephant playing with colored spheres, the dance of hooded ladies by vases, animals, and slender figurines in singular architectures composed of pointed white stars, but also the irony of the skeleton mocked by La Linea, the character created by Osvaldo Cavandoli, protagonist of an animated series and comics. Andrea Salvatori's works draw inspiration from great icons of the past, but also manage to unite tradition with innovation as in the Ikebana Rock'n'Roll series for which the artist experiments with new technologies.

The exhibition dedicated to Andrea Salvatori is also an opportunity to reflect on and compare different contemporary languages. The artist's works have indeed been photographed by Chiara Berti and Fabrizio Procelli of the Associazione Fotoamatori Mochi who, with a curious and sensitive eye, narrate the artist's poetics. The images are part of the catalog, published by Fioranna Edizioni, and are exhibited, in a show within the show, which continues until the conclusion of Salvatori's exhibition.
