From 24 January to 6 March 2026
Friday, January 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM, L’Ascensore is pleased to present Infinite Stories (229 – 251), a solo exhibition by Lorenzo Testa, curated by Alessia Coppolino.
Two large paintings traverse the space inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the imaginary world of Lorenzo Testa, a visionary elsewhere where unusual characters populate unique environments giving life to imagined communities, possible narratives, and, probably, Infinite Stories. (Alessia Coppolino)
Lorenzo Testa (Termini Imerese, PA, 1990) trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, obtaining a first-level diploma in Painting in 2016. His research, deeply influenced by esteemed masters such as Bruegel, Ensor, and Bosch, focuses on exploring a grotesque and bizarre vision of art. His profound interest in music – from the acidity of rock-grunge, to the influences of post-hardcore and noise-rock, to the dreamy and suspended atmospheres of shoegaze, slowcore, and dreampop – emerges in his artistic production alongside an imaginary linked to the cinematic world.
Among the exhibitions: The Sense of the Body. The Sense of the Body, First International Festival of Schools of Art and Design, curated by the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts (July 1, 2015 – July 26, 2015, Exhibition setups of the Albertina Pinacoteca, the academic spaces of the Academy, and the Foyer of the RAI Auditorium, Turin); Imago Mundi Collection (2015); Through the points #1. Trajectories from the Visual Arts Observatory, curated by Daniela Bigi, Gianna Di Piazza, Toni Romanelli (November 11, 2016 – February 28, 2017, Palazzo Ziino, Palermo); Project Room #1. Lorenzo Testa, curated by Visual Arts Observatory (Daniela Bigi, Gianna Di Piazza, Toni Romanelli), (June 13, 2019 – July 1, 2019, Palazzo Ziino, Palermo); PALERMO MICROWAVE, curated by Giorgio Mega and Gianluca Concialdi (January 19, 2020 – February 9, 2020, Villa Vertua Masolo, Nova Milanese, MB).
Alessia Coppolino (Palermo, 1997) obtained a first-level diploma in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, with a thesis that delves into the artistic practice of Massimo Bartolini, supervised by Prof. Daniela Bigi. She continues her research in the field of contemporary art focusing on theoretical-curatorial aspects, furthering her education by attending the Visual Arts Observatory (founded within the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo by Daniela Bigi, Gianna Di Piazza, and Toni Romanelli) and obtaining, in 2021, a second-level diploma in Visual Cultures and Curatorial Practices at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, with a thesis that investigates the relationship between dwelling and memory in the artistic practice of Alberto Garutti and Gregor Schneider, supervised by Prof. Riccardo Venturi. Since 2020, she has been collaborating with the editorial staff of the magazine "Arte e Critica" and its supplement "Arte e Critica City". During the academic year 2023/24, she is a student of Latest Trends in Visual Arts and since 2024 she has been a PhD student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, in the Mediascape.
