From 11 July to 10 November 2024
On display is a selection of works and artifacts, rarely visible to the public, coming from the storages of three of Rome's most important museum institutions: Galleria Borghese, La Galleria Nazionale, and Musei Capitolini.
With this exhibition, the MAXXI showcases for the first time in its spaces a significant number of ancient and modern art pieces, welcoming them in an immersive scenographic setting conceived and designed for the occasion by the multi-Oscar-winning Dante Ferretti. An authorial scenography that sees the city and the street expand, invading the closed environment of the gallery and questioning the usual relationship between interior and exterior.
The works, in a play of references and perspectives, enter into a close dialogue with the contemporaneity of the MAXXI and, through the contemporary sensitivity of the place, are reinterpreted offering an updated look on the present.
