Teatrino of Palazzo Grassi

The Teatrino of Palazzo Grassi is the third location of the Pinault Collection in Venice, with the two museums Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana . Originally conceived as a garden of Palazzo Grassi in 1857, then transformed into a green theatre, covered in 1961 and abandoned in 1983, in 2013 the Teatrino returned to light after an important restoration and functional redesign, commissioned from the Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

The Teatrino offers a broad program linked both to the ongoing exhibitions at Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana and to the various forms of contemporary artistic research and expression. The auditorium is suitable for hosting meetings, screenings, debates, workshops, but also music and dance performances. The Teatrino has established itself as one of the most dynamic protagonists in the Venetian cultural sphere with, every year, over 100 events, most of which are free, created and produced by Palazzo Grassi and in many cases with international, national and local partners.

Today the Teatrino is a meeting and exchange platform, a place recognized by the actors who pass through and experience the city of Venice. Among the great personalities who met the public: the architect Tadao Ando, the artist Simone Fattal, the critic, art historian and activist Elisabeth Lebovici, the musician Alva Noto, the writer Yasmina Reza and the artist Luc Tuymans.
