In this work, in particular, the formal memory of the velatio crucis informs the entirety of the quadripartite structure.
The four triangular elements, in the way they are arranged on the wall, with the apparent voids of their interspaces, highlight the virtual immaterial appearance of the cross. Almost all of them are filled with an airy blue that leaves uncovered the vectorial forms of the medium-dark gray edges of the material background preparation. Along the longer sides of the right-angled triangles of the four panels, corresponding to the longitudinal axis, the edges turn golden-orange while progressing from the zero millimeter width of the upper and lower ends they gradually thicken towards the center of the work up to a width of 35 millimeters, concentrating diffused perceptual brightness.
The resulting slit can figuratively represent the wound in Christ's side and, symbolically, also the mysterious feminine uniqueness of the Virgin Mary originating the incarnation of the Word.
