Jiajia Zhang works with photography and video and, more recently, also develops sculptural installations. For his solo exhibition, entitled A Film In Two Parts, The Second Of Which Never Ends at the Istituto Svizzero in Milan, Jiajia creates a large installation that transforms the exhibition space into a place where the private, even intimate, sphere and the public sphere overlap. The artist is interested in the standardizing structures that shape us within these spaces: stone bollards that guide our movements in public spaces—present in the exhibition as a sort of ready-made—or the standard processes in learning a language foreign, as Jiajia's new video work shows.
