The exhibition Corpus Naturae, curated by Benedetta Carpi De Resmini, opens an intergenerational dialogue between two extraordinary artists: Bianca Pucciarelli Menna, known as Tomaso Binga (born in Salerno in 1931), and María Ángeles Vila Tortosa (born in Valencia in 1978). A meeting between two seemingly distant women, who through their work convey a sense of different existence, questioning forms of domination, hierarchy, and appropriation typical of capitalist, patriarchal, and anthropocentric modernity. The common thread that connects the two artists is the language of plants and a deep connection between body and nature. María Ángeles Vila Tortosa explores the world of plants through prints, reflecting on their significant importance in everyday life for protection, domestic care, and for visceral and primordial connections with the human gender. Tomaso Binga's works, created from the seventies to the present day, demonstrate how nature is intimately connected to art, to the human sphere, especially to women's bodies, revealing the author's epistemological adherence to her female gender and challenging centuries-old practices of subjugation. The exhibition will invite reflection on our relationship with the Earth and the plant world, a call to the biocentric vision of the universe. This exhibition stems from the desire to reveal the multiple, even unconscious connections of these artists with the studies of archaeologist Marija Gimbutas (Vilnius 1921 - Los Angeles 1994), author of important studies around the sacred identified with nature and the feminine, who has contributed to spreading in the contemporary world the awareness of how the Earth was anciently venerated as the Mother Goddess Creator, highlighting the need for a cyclical conception of the universe.
