From January 29 to February 17, 2026, the audio room of the exhibition One Day You’ll Understand. 25 years of Dissonanze presents Cosmic Pulses (32’), the last electronic composition by Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928–2007) and work number 93 in his catalog. The work represents one of the most radical outcomes of the German composer's research on electronic sound and spatialization, and is part of the unfinished cycle Klang (Sound), also known as The 24 Hours of the Day (Die 24 Stunden des Tages), a monumental project conceived as a musical articulation of the twenty-four hours of the day. Commissioned in 2006 by Dissonanze together with the AngelicA festival in Bologna, Cosmic Pulses was premiered at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome on May 7, 2007, as a preview of Dissonanze 7.

A central figure in 20th-century music, Karlheinz Stockhausen was among the absolute pioneers of electronic and experimental music. His work profoundly transformed the relationship between composition, technology, and listening perception, exerting a decisive influence on contemporary sound research.

One Day You’ll Understand. 25 years of Dissonanze reconstructs the history of the festival conceived by Giorgio Mortari, active in Rome from 2000 to 2010, considered one of the most influential in the Italian electronic music and digital art scene. Through a nomadic and interdisciplinary approach, Dissonanze transformed the city into an open laboratory, capable of activating historical, industrial, and institutional spaces, connecting experimental music, still the prerogative of a niche audience, architecture, and visual arts. The festival's name itself, inspired by the thought of Theodor W. Adorno, evoked the desire to create a productive friction between radical languages and unprecedented contexts.
