Butehamon was a royal scribe, who lived between the New Kingdom and the Third Intermediate Period, descendant of a family of scribes. The inside of the lid and that of the false lid of his sarcophagus are entirely covered by the description of the Ritual of Opening the Mouth, which was used to restore life to the deceased, according to his new existence in the Hereafter. We have received numerous documents in the name of Butehamon, including an ostrakon in which the man expressed his condolences for his deceased wife.
